Seebio® Tris-HCl Buffer

The Seebio® Tris-HCl buffer serves a dual purpose, serving as a solvent for both nucleic acids and proteins, and playing a crucial role in various applications. Tris is employed in protein crystal growth across different pH conditions.

 

 

The low ionic strength of the Tris buffer is utilized in the formation of intermediate fibers of lamin in C. elegans. Additionally, Tris constitutes a key component of protein electrophoresis buffer, creating a buffer system with glycine to stabilize pH during electrophoresis.

 

Tris serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of surfactants, vulcanization accelerators, and certain pharmaceuticals. Moreover, it functions as a titration standard. However, when utilized as a protein buffer, Tris is unsuitable if subsequent mass spectrometry is required. In such cases, it is advisable to substitute it with a buffer compatible with other mass spectrometers.
