    Description

    Vitamin B2 is also called riboflavin. Slightly soluble in water, it is stable when heated in neutral or acidic solution. When lack of it, the body's bio oxidation will be affected, and the metabolism will be disordered. The lesions mostly appears as inflammation of mouth, eyes and external genital, such as angular cheilitis, cheilitis, glossitis, conjunctivitis and scrotal inflammation etc.

    Appearance: Yellow to orange yellow crystalline powder, slightly odorous, with a slightly bitter taste.

    Storage:Keep in dark place,Inert atmosphere, 2-8°C

    Solubility: Very slightly soluble in water, practically insoluble in ethanol (96 per cent). Solutions deteriorate on exposure to light, especially in the presence of alkali. It shows polymorphism (5.9).

    Stability:Stable, but light-sensitive. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, reducing agents, bases, calcium, metallic salts. May be moisture sensitive.



    Function:

    Promote the development and regeneration of the cells;

    Promote the normal growth of skin, nails and hair.

    It helps to prevent and eliminate the inflammation reaction of mouth, lips, tongue and skin, it is collectively referred to as oral genital syndrome;

    It can improve vision, reduce eye fatigue;

    It will affect the body's absorption of iron;

    It can be combined with other materials, thus affects the biological oxidation and energy metabolism


    Applications

    1.Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is used in skin care preparations as an emollient. It can be found in sun care products as a suntan enhancer. Medicinally, it is used for the treatment of skin lesions.

    2. Riboflavin is used to prevent riboflavin deficiency, for migraine, and for high levels of homocysteine in the blood.

    3. Riboflavin is used as a food additive for nutrient supplement.
