Folic acid

Folic acid is one of vitamin B complex, it is also called vitamin B9, vitamin M and vitamin Bc; it is a kind of water soluble vitamin and presents in all life systems from small viruses, bacteria to humanity. It’s called folic acid because it was initially extracted from spinach leaves.

Property: It is yellow or orange yellow crystalline powder; odorless and tasteless. It’s insoluble in water and ethanol; easily soluble in dilute solution of sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate.

Promote maturation of bone marrow cell.
Folic acid deficiency can cause macrocytic anemia and giant leuco penia.
It is especially important for pregnant women to prevent fetal neural tube defects.
