    Summary

      Agarose is linear polymer, its basic structure is a long chain alternatively connected by 1,3 linked β -D- galactose and 1,4 link 3,6- ether -L- galactose. Agar pectin is a heterogenous mixture composed of many smaller molecules. Agarose is generally dissolved in water when heated up to 90, good semi solid gel will be formed when temperature drops to 35-40 , this character is the main feature and basic for its wide uses. Agarose gel properties are usually expressed by gel strength.

    Properties

      Modified agarose with low melting point has more careful gel structure and higher resolution ratio, it is suitable for DNA/RNA electrophoresis. It will be melted below 65and suitable for recycling of gel. It keeps flowing below37and can be applied to enzymatic reaction, tissue culture and cell clone in gel, it also can be used in the virus plaque assay test.
